Surface Water

The City of Grand Blanc is committed to protecting and enhancing surface water quality.
We have partnered with the Genesee County Drain Commission-Surface Water Management and many other local municipalities to meet our goals and commitments.

The City of Grand Blanc owns and maintains the storm water collection system within the City.  The system consists of curb inlets, manholes with sumps, piping and outfalls to constructed and natural drainage features.  The storm sewer system collects water from roadways and parking lots as well as sump pump, basement and roof drains.  Ultimately, all storm water in the City discharges to Thread Creek.

As part of the City’s commitment to protecting and enhancing surface water quality, we maintain a permit to discharge storm water to surface water.  For many years, we have partnered regionally with the Genesee County Drain Commission and most communities within Genesee County to address surface water management.  Below, you can find a number of links and documents related to these efforts:

    • The City of Grand Blanc Stormwater Ordinance, Amendment and Ordinance Companion. These documents provide a framework of regulations intended to protect the quantity and quality of stormwater generated within the City.
    • Below, you will find the most recent documents related to the City of Grand Blanc’s 2021 Progress Report.
