Press Release --City of Grand Blanc Creates New Fire Department
Grand Blanc, April 10, 2019 – The City of Grand Blanc is excited to announce a historic decision made by the City Council at the April 10, 2019 meeting. The City of Grand Blanc has committed to the creation of a City of Grand Blanc Fire Department. Our primary concern when making this decision is the City’s safety and protection with care and respect. The City of Grand Blanc’s current operating budget will be used to fund the new Fire Department. The Fire Department will provide our City with the highest level of fire protection service.
This department will operate efficiently with standardized procedures. We will work diligently to recruit and retain the highest quality candidates our City deserves.
The current contract with Grand Blanc Township is set to expire on July 24, 2019 after the 90-day extension from the April 25, 2019 original deadline given by the Grand Blanc Township Board. There will be no interruption of service. Fire Service will be provided by the City of Grand Blanc Fire Department effective July 25, 2019.
The City of Grand Blanc Fire Department will remain in the current building at 117 High Street, Station #1, in the center of the City. This will ensure response times are kept at the same level of excellence.
The City of Grand Blanc is excited to bring Fire Services to our residents. We welcome this new department. It’s one more way we are striving to better serve our residents.
The City will inform you of our progress as our commitment to you. Social media (Facebook, etc.) and press releases will be utilized to ensure our messages are reaching as many individuals as possible. Please, stay tuned for further updates of great things happening in our community. The City of Grand Blanc is looking forward to our future.
