Jamie was elected to council in 2023. He previously served on the City Council both by being appointed and being elected. For 2024, Jamie will serve on the 4 P’s: Public Works, Public Safety, Parks, & Personnel Committees.
Jamie has lived in Grand Blanc for the last 25 years. He has two adult children, Mitchell and Marshall, (Both Grand Blanc HS Grads) and 2 grandchildren, Otto and Ernie. He has served in the US Army and Air Force National Guard and is an Iraq Vet. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation from Central Michigan University & a Master’s in Public Administration from Central Michigan University. He currently works for Oakland County Parks as a Parks Supervisor. He likes restoring custom cars, races vintages snowmobiles, and is a pinball player and collector.

Chris was elected to the City Council in 2015. For 2024, he is Mayor Pro Tem. He has been appointed to serve as chair of the Public Safety and Public Works Committees. He will also serve on the Finance Committee and as the City’s representative to the Genesee County Metropolitan Alliance and the Genesee County Small Cities & Villages.
Chris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Michigan Technological University, and a Ph.D. in economics from Michigan State University. He works at the University of Michigan-Flint, where he is a professor of economics and the acting associate dean of the College of Arts, Sciences and Education.
Julie Nielsen

Julie was first elected to the City Council in 2015. For 2024, she has been appointed to serve as chair for the Legal and Legislative Committee. She will also serve on the Finance and Parks Committees.
Julie has lived in the city of Grand Blanc with her husband, John, and three now-grown children since 1996. Julie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Kettering University. She and her husband, John, love exploring Grand Blanc by foot, ski, and bike, but her favorite activity is strumming her uke and singing along.

Andrew Nyquist was elected to the City Council in 2021. For 2024, he has been appointed to the Public Works and Legal and Legislative Committees.
Andrew has lived in the City of Grand Blanc for 14 years with his wife Julie and two sons. He served in the US Coast Guard, obtained a B.S. in Business from the University of Phoenix. He joined the City of Grand Blanc Fire Department in 2019 and currently serves as Sergeant. Andrew works for Palo Alto Networks as a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer supporting customers in Michigan. He also serves on the Genesee County Soldiers Relief Commission and is a mentor at the Grand Blanc High School CyberPatriot Club.
Chris Carr

Chris was appointed to the City Council in 2019 and then elected later that year. For 2024, he will serve as chair for the Finance and Personnel Committees. He will also serve on the Legal and Legislative Committee. In addition, he will represent the council on the Planning Commission, which he has served on since 2013. Chris also serves as Vice-Chair for the Downtown Development Authority / Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, which he has served on since 2009.
Chris has lived in Grand Blanc for most of his life, with his wife Mary. They have two adult children. Chris earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from University of Michigan - Flint. He works for Huntington Bank as a Vice-President in Business Banking and has over 34 years of experience.
